National Nutrition Week was initiated March 1973. It expanded to a month long due to increased interest in healthy eating/nutrition. The focus is on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
During the Month Commit to trying a new fruit or vegetable. Organize a healthy recipe contest or a healthy potluck. Help children select healthy snacks.
Learn to eat right on a budget: Cook more, eat out less. Plan your meals. Decide on how much food to make as meal prep decreases the opportunity to eat unhealthy or binge. Watch portion size. Quench your thirst with water. Focus on nutritious, low cost foods.
There is no better time than now to start eating better and increase your activity. In Celebration of National Nutrition Month show your support by grabbing a fruit, load up on veggies, take a walk and increase your water consumption.
