As we take time to celebrate and remember all those that served and died during active duty,

and reflect and honor the fallen lets also remember and educate ourselves.

According to the written tales Memorial Day' birthplace was declared in 1966 by Lyndon Johnson to be Waterloo New York. Memorial day was Declared a National Holiday in 1971. Memorial Day was Originally named Decoration Day in 1868


On May 1, 1865, in Charleston SC, free African Americans held a parade to honor 257 dead Union Soldiers whose remains were buried in a mass grave in a Confederate Prison Camp. The bodies were exhumed and given a proper burial.
