CAKE, CANDY, COOKIES, DONUTS, PROCESSED FOOD. WHY?

We know that certain foods are not good for the body and that we are what we eat. So why do we continue to indulge in processed food, cakes, candy and donuts? Typically these items are high in things like salt, sugar and fat. They trigger pleasure centers in our brains, making us feel oh-so-yummy-good inside which makes us want to eat them. A lot of money, strategy and effort go into designing junk food. The goal is to make it cheap, convenient, and despite having no or little nutritional value, it keeps us craving them. Beyond being super high in calorie count, junk food producers have a million tricks to make them irresistible. Who among you can resist a double bacon, cheese burger on a brioche bun with fries? Get more bang for your buck and get 2 for the price of one, you can share it with a friend. It takes time to prepare a healthy meal and it can be expensive. So despite knowing it's not good for us, knowing that its consumption is linked to diabetes, heart disease, cancer, obesity and mental disease--junk food can be really hard to resist.

Food for thought...

Junk food, processed food, fast food, etc. is cheap and easy. Being cheap and easy targets which socioeconomic group? The consumption of these items also lead to disease and there is a cost to treat. Access to good healthcare is also an issue for which socioeconomic group? There is always money to be made in Dis-ease. Being Reactive is more profitable than being proactive/advocating prevention. Research The American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, National Dairy Council, etc. to World Health Organization list of Carcinogenic Hazards to Humans. Research the effect of Animal Milk on Humans.

Pass me another donut please! Make that a Large Please!
